Gradall Forklift Parts - The Gradall excavator was the brainchild of two brothers Koop and ray Ferwerda. The excavator was founded In the 1940's during World War II, when there was a scarcity of labourers. The brothers faced the problems of a depleted workforce because of the war. As partners in their Cleveland, Ohio construction business called Ferwerda-Werba-Ferwerda they lacked the existing laborers to perform the delicate tasks of grading and finishing on their interstate projects. The Ferwerda brothers decided to build a machine which would save their business by making the slope grading work less manual, easier and more efficient.
The first excavator prototype consisted of a device with two industrial beams on a rotating platform fixed to a second-hand truck. There was a telescopic cylinder that was utilized to move the beams back and forth. This enabled the fixed blade at the far end of the beams to pull or push the dirt. Soon enhancing the very first design, the brothers built a triangular boom to be able to add more strength. In addition, they added a tilt cylinder that let the boom rotate 45 degrees in either direction. A cylinder was positioned at the back of the boom, powering a long push rod to enable the equipment to be equipped with either a blade or a bucket attachment.
Gradall launched in the year 1992, with the introduction of the new XL Series hydraulics, the most ground-breaking adjustment in their machinery ever since their creation. This new system of top-of-the-line hydraulics allowed the Gradall excavator to deliver comparable power and high productivity to the more conventional excavators. The XL Series put an end to the first Gradall equipment power drawn from low pressure hydraulics and gear pumps. These conventional systems efficiently handled grading and finishing work but had a hard time competing for high productivity jobs.
The new XL Series Gradall excavators proved a remarkable increase in their digging and lifting ability. These models were made together with a piston pump, high-pressure hydraulics system which showed immense improvements in boom and bucket breakout forces. The XL Series hydraulics system was even developed with a load-sensing capability. Traditional excavators use an operator so as to select a working-mode; where the Gradall system could automatically adjust the hydraulic power for the job at hand. This makes the operator's whole job easier and likewise conserves fuel at the same time.
Once the new XL Series hydraulics reached the market, Gradall was thrust into the very competitive industrial machinery market which are meant to deal with excavating, demolition, pavement removal and various industrial work. The introduction of the new telescoping boom helped to further enhance the excavator's marketability. The telescoping boom gives the excavator the ability to work in low overhead areas and to better position attachments.
